There are some colours the eye can’t see and reddish-green is one of them.

Opponent colour theory calls them ‘impossible colours’ because the cones and rods in our eyes can’t make sense of the overlapping wavelengths of light. In Crane and Piantanida’s pioneering colouring experiments, they discovered that under certain conditions and with the right guidance, people learned to see these ‘forbidden colours’.
